About WorldClass American Karate

Mr. Kirk Mitchell started karate lessons in 1986 at Southeastern American Karate. Taught by Mr. Gary McDaniel. He advanced quickly through the ranks, and was team teaching classes within 8 months.

Mr. Mitchell competed heavily in karate tournaments and took first place in several including the Battle of Atlanta and the USA Junior Challenge both nationally ranked tournaments. Mr. Mitchell was also ranked third in the southeastern region for fighting.

Mr. Mitchell earned his first-degree black belt when he was 18. He earned his third degree through WorldClass American Karate’s sister school in Conyers, Georgia by Mr. Matthew Johnson a fourth degree black belt.

Mr. Johnson founded WorldClass American Karate in 1996. WorldClass Karate schools have produced students that excel in every aspect of the martial arts. Mr. Johnson has several students who compete and win on a regular basses in karate tournaments. Both Mr. Kirk Mitchell and Mr. Matt Johnson trained under Mr. Gary McDaniel who trained under Mr. Keith Vitali a one time World Champion and three times National Champion.

Mr. Ryan Mitchell is on our advancement board. Mr. Mitchell is a third degree black belt. He teaches at WorldClass American Karate in Conyers and specializes in teaching children with special needs.

Layne and Kirk Mitchell opened WorldClass American Karate’s Augusta location in March of 2003. They are dedicated to the development of the students and staff to Black Belt Excellence in every aspect of their lives.

Mr. Tyler Mitchell  is the White Belt Program Director.  Mr. Tyler says that he had no idea how much he would enjoy helping to enrich the lives of those that he comes in contact every week.
